As the end of semester deadlines approach, it’s easy to let our relationships take a back seat. As the stress ramps up, it’s important to spend time maintaining our connections and support system. One simple way to do this is by checking-in on people important to us. Even if it’s a text or an email, checking-in shows that you value and appreciate the person. It isn’t something to mark off a to do list, but rather a moment that deepens your connection with the person. Try to be specific and allow for a conversation. For example, instead of saying “you ok?” try something like “how have you been feeling with everything that’s going on lately?” Small acts like these can help strengthen relationships. Who are you going to check in with this week?
