- GRADUATE SCHOOL: The GLC will be closed to the public, including all graduate students, between June 8 – August 16, due to renovations in the Squires Student Center. All GLC swipe card access will be terminated during this period. There will be no drop-in student services during this time. 10. GA POSITION – COSTUME SHOP – 3rd posting
The costume Graduate Assistant is responsible for building and altering costumes for theatre productions and assisting undergraduate instruction in costume construction. The assistantship is 20 hours/week and the exact days/times will be coordinated with the Costume Shop Manager. The graduate assistant is most needed from 12:00-5:30, Monday through Thursday, and 2:00 to 5:00 on Friday. Work over breaks and weekends may be required and is planned in advance.
Graduate Assistant expectations:
-Assist Costume Shop Manager in instructing undergraduate students in costume construction
-Build/alter costumes under the direction of Costume Shop Manager and Costume Designer

The InfoViz group is inviting you to participate in a research study with Large Language Models (LLMs) technologies. Our team is investigating ways to enhance textual analysis and synthesis activities using advanced LLMs like GPT-4.Participants in the study will come to Room 466, Data and Decision Sciences, 727 Prices Fork Rd, Blacksburg, VA 24060. Participants will be given two tasks involving LLM-supported analysis tasks for intelligence analysis. The participants will try to solve the cases with an LLM-powered system while seated in an indoor environment within 100 minutes. Participants will be compensated $20 for their time and effort upon completion of the user study. The purpose of this study is to investigate how individuals with type A and B personality traits respond to constructive or destructive tasks in virtual reality (VR). 16. INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN A MUSIC & EMOTION RESEARCH STUDY – 3rd posting
You are invited to participate in a Virginia Tech research study exploring how people experience music and interact with computer-based music systems. Participants will wear small, non-invasive sensors, similar to fitness trackers, while listening to, or interacting with, music through a computer-based system. Sensors may collect measures such as heart rate, blood oxygen level, and skin conductance. Participants may also complete brief surveys about their musical and emotional experience.
Eligibility: Must be 18 years of age or older; No prior musical training or technical experience is required.
Duration: Approximately 1–2 hours. Compensation: $10 per hour, prorated if you withdraw early.
Location: Seated lab or studio setting on campus, Newman Library 121 (DISIS)
Participation is completely voluntary. You may choose not to participate or may stop at any time without penalty. The study involves minimal risk and does not include medical treatment or invasive procedures. Some conditions may affect eligibility, including known cardiovascular conditions that affect physiological measures, medications that substantially alter heart rate, blood oxygen, or skin conductance, adhesive intolerance, hearing limitations that prevent comfortable music listening, or unwillingness to remove jewelry or nail polish that may obstruct sensors.
