0. Ongoing Services – June 8– August 16, 2026
- GRADUATE SCHOOL: The GLC will be closed to the public, including all graduate students, between June 8 – August 16, due to renovations in the Squires Student Center. All GLC swipe card access will be terminated during this period. There will be no drop-in student services during this time. For assistance students may email grads@vt.edu, call 540 231-8636 or schedule Zoom advising: request one-on-one assistantship or academic advising by using our online request form to set-up a Zoom session.
- GRADUATE OMBUDS: contact for appointment at gradombud@vt.edu, 540-231-9573. Services will be available in the Newman Library in Room 427 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10:00am-3:00pm. Students may schedule in-person meetings in this space.

The Graduate School seeks a full time (20hr/week) graduate assistant to assist with the maintenance of existing and development of new IT tools that support our business processes. 8. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CHICKPEA PASTA TASTE TEST! – 1st posting (1/2)
The VT Sensory Evaluation Lab (VT SEL) is conducting a taste test on CHICKPEA PASTA. The test will be conducted on August 12th and 13th from 9am-5pm. Take the screener survey below and express your interest. Recruiting volunteers who are: 18 years or older. Qualifications: Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding, No known food allergies or sensitivities to CHICKPEA PASTA (Chickpeas, fava/faba bean, pea starch, tapioca, xanthan gum); Interested in tasting several samples of CHICKPEA PASTA.

9. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR VIRTUAL REALITY RESEARCH STUDY – 2nd posting
The 3D Interaction Group is recruiting participants for our study involving Mixed Reality (MR) technology. Participants will be asked to complete a series of target selection trials using direct touch input with the Apple Vision Pro (Photo attached). We expect the experiment to take around 90 minutes to complete. Qualifications: You may be eligible for this research if you:
• Are 18 years of age or older
• Have normal or corrected vision (Contacts only. Glasses are NOT supported.)
• Are proficient in spoken and written English
• Do not have a history of severe motion sickness
• Are not pregnant
• Have no motor limitations and full range of motion in your dominant arm
Your participation in our study is entirely voluntary, and you can withdraw from the study at any time with no penalty to you or your university status. This research study is focused on the experiences of Black Men Athletes (BMAs) who are alumni of Division-I (D1) Power-5 Conference (P5) Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs). The goal is to better understand how Black men student-athlete alumni define and experienced anti-Black racism while participating in collegiate athletics at PWIs. 11. INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN A MUSIC & EMOTION RESEARCH STUDY – 2nd posting
This research study conducted at Virginia Tech explores how people experience music and interact with computer-based music systems. (IRB # 25-1174). Participants will wear small, non-invasive sensors (similar to fitness trackers) while listening to or interacting with music using a computer-based system. You may also be asked to complete brief surveys about your experience. Participation will take approximately 1–2 hours, and all activities will take place in a seated lab or studio setting. (220 Gilbert St. – Gilbert Place – Room 3201) Participation is completely voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or stop at any time without penalty. The compensation will be prorated at $10 an hour for participation. The study involves minimal risk and does not include medical treatment or invasive procedures. Eligibility: 18 years of age or older; No prior musical training or technical experience is required. Conditions that will exclude you from the study: Known cardiovascular conditions affecting measures; Current meds substantially altering HR/SpO₂/GSR; Adhesive intolerance; Hearing less than the standard human comfortable range of hearing; Unwilling to remove jewelry/nail polish that obstructs sensors. 12. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR A CONSTRUCTIVE AND DESTRUCTIVE TASK IN VR – 3rd posting
The purpose of this study is to investigate how individuals with type A and B personality traits respond to constructive or destructive tasks in virtual reality (VR). Participant qualifications: 18 to 64 years old; 20/20 vision without or with contacts (glasses are not permitted during the study); Can walk and use both hands; Willing to attend an approximately 45-minute in-person experimental session in Gilbert Place; Proficient in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English; NOT pregnant; Do NOT have pre-existing binocular vision abnormalities or psychiatric disorders; Have NOT recently undergone any medical procedure (including cosmetic procedures); Do NOT suffer from a heart condition or other serious medical condition; Do NOT have a history of seizures or photosensitive epilepsy; Do NOT frequently experience dizziness, vertigo, fainting, or severe motion sickness; Do NOT have a balance disorder, are unsteady on their feet, or consider themselves at elevated risk of falling.
