  • GRADUATE SCHOOL: Graduate School summer hours: In-person advising, drop-off or pick-up of documents and materials, and a space to study and take a break! Visit 120 GLC, summer walk-in hours will be held on Monday and Thursday 9:00-4:00pm. The Graduate School offices will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the summer. Staff will be available by phone 540 231-8636 or email grads@vt.edu.  If you prefer Zoom advising: request one-on-one assistantship or academic advising by using our online request form to set-up a Zoom session.

If you have any of these concerns or others, upper-level nutrition students are here to help. 5. WAGE POSITION ASSISTANT COACH, VT COMPETITIVE CHEER TEAM (NON-VARSITY SPORT CLUB TEAM) – 1st  posting
We are looking for an Assistant Coach to work with our Head Coach to help run team practices. Our coaches make decisions about the team’s performance routine that are in the best interest of the team, including, but not limited to, who on the team will be alternates, what skills to include in the performance routine, in addition to making practice plans for the team. Ideally, both coaches will travel with the team to competitions and showcases, in addition to attending most, if not all team practices, which are twice/week in the fall semester and three times/week in the spring semester. Previous cheerleading experience, preferably Level 4-6 or at the collegiate level. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. 6. GRADUATE RESIDENTIAL FELLOW – RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE AT WEST AMBLER-JOHNSTON – 2nd posting
The Residential College at West Ambler Johnston is seeking full-time graduate students to serve as a Graduate Residential Fellow. The Graduate Residential Fellow (GRF) is a live-in position with a primary responsibility of assisting the Faculty Principal (FP) with his/ her academic and intellectual goals, offering mentorship to students, and facilitating the creation of a strong sense of community within the Residential College. The GRF works closely with the hall council, Residential Well-Being Student Leaders, the FP, Student Affairs staff, and others to ensure that the goals and aspirations of the residential college are fulfilled. Graduate Residential Fellows are required to hold a concurrent part-time or full-time graduate assistantship. 7. RECRUITING YOUNG ADULTS WITH ADHD FOR BRAIN STUDY – 1st posting
Participate in a series of study sessions on attention tasks at the Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg. Study tasks include a questionnaire, games, and MRI scan. Participant qualifications: 18-40 y/o diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) eligible for an MRI. + Compensation: $20 per hour + additional $0.20 per mile for round trip if traveling from outside of Montgomery County, VA. 8. USING 2D CHARTS AND VIRTUAL REALITY TO IMPACT RESIDENTS’ ENERGY AWARENESS ON HOW ENERGY IS CONSUMED THROUGHOUT YOUR HOME – 2nd posting
The goal of this research study is to investigate alternative data visualization formats to determine their impact on participants’ ability to read, work with, analyze, and argue about energy consumption data of household appliances. The total time commitment is roughly 1 hour. Participant qualifications: Must be a graduate student. Compensation: $25 Visa Gift Card. 9. INTERVIEW PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR STUDY ON AI & SELF-PERCEPTION – 2nd posting
We are currently looking for participants who are interested in sharing their thoughts and experiences related to skincare, their perceptions of their facial appearance, and their attitudes toward using algorithm-based tools designed to assess facial wrinkles. What to Expect: Participation involves a one-time, semi-structured interview lasting approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour; The interview will be conducted via Zoom, at a time that’s convenient for you, and the video and audio will be recorded; Topics will include your skincare routine, decision-making process regarding skincare purchases, and your views on using technology to assess skin health Compensation: Entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card (1/10 odds of being selected). Volunteers are needed to help staff Virginia Tech’s booth at the Capital Pride celebration in Washington, DC on Sunday, June 9. The MEM lab is recruiting participants for a new study on young adult cognition The study takes approximately 1 hour, in Williams Hall, and pays $20. The Roanoke Graduate Association will be co-hosting the 3rd annual installment of the Biomedical Professional Development Symposium.
