LISA (Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis) is providing a series of evening short courses to help graduate students use statistics in their research. The focus of these two-hour courses is on teaching practical statistical techniques for analyzing or collecting data. 3. GLC CAFÉ + LEMONADE

The GLC Café is offered throughout the year with free coffee, tea, and cookies in the company of your graduate-student and Grad-School colleagues. In the summer fresh lemonade is also served to help you stay cool Bring your own mug if you can. Either inside or outside, pending on the weather!
4. AUXILIARY GA POSITION IN VT BUDGET & FINANCIAL PLANNING – 1st posting
The VT Office of Budget and Financial Planning has a 20 hrs/wk Graduate Assistantship opening for the 2014-15 academic year, with stipend, tuition scholarship, and health insurance. The ideal candidate will have an interest/focus in public budgeting/finance with excellent technology skills, particularly with Excel. The position will assist the office in the budget development, monitoring, and reporting processes for the University’s Auxiliary Enterprises area (Athletics, Rec. Sports, Dorms, Dining, etc.). There will also be participation in broader office responsibilities and ad-hoc projects. Successful candidates should have good oral and written communication skills; the ability to perform work of varied difficulty requiring advanced data collection, analysis and forecasting; and experience in compiling and writing reports. Successful candidate will academically mentor undergraduates living in the buildings and design modest programming around own research interests. 6. WAGE POSITION OPEN – 2nd posting
Wage Position: OJS (Open Access Systems) consultant with advanced familiarity with Open Journal Systems (OJS), a journal management and publishing system software, needed to help the editor of Review of Middle East Studies, a campus-based journal, transition to digital publishing. Flat fee for one week to ten days working with the editors in July or early August to apply the features of OJS software to the workflow of the journal. 7. GLC STUDENT BUILDING MANAGER POSITIONS OPEN FOR FALL 2014 – 3rd posting
The GLC Student Building Manager works closely with the Operations Manager for Student Centers and Activities as well as the Graduate School to provide services to the patrons who use the GLC. This includes providing excellent customer service, overall building management, reserving rooms, oversight of the welcome center, basic cleaning (wiping tables, vacuuming, etc.) and administrative support. The Student Building Manager has primary responsibility, including emergency response, for the building during evening and weekend hours. The theatre production program in the School of Performing Arts is seeking two FT graduate assistants (20 hrs/wk, Step 1, 9-month) for the 2014/15 academic. The successful candidate must be available 1:00-5:30 pm M – F.
— Position #1 is in the scenic construction shop. Required skills: Carpentry, experience with power tools and equipment, finishing work, painting, installation and assembly. Ability to listen and learn from senior shop technicians; work both independently and with others; read and understand technical design drawings. Preferred qualifications include: Proficiency in standard scenic fabrication techniques including welding and rigging.
— Position #2 is in the costume construction shop. Required skills: Ability to read and understand costume designs and assemble patterns; basic experience with sewing and stitching; listen and learn from faculty and staff supervisors; work both independently and with others. Preferred qualifications include: Proficiency with fabric cutting, draping, patterning, fitting and costume crafts. 10. PARENTS AND ADOLESCENTS WANTED FOR NUTRITION RESEARCH – 3rd posting
Children 12-18 and parents are needed for a study to determine the reliability and validity of a biomarker for beverage consumption and added sugar intake in adolescents. The study involves children completing beverage and theory-based questionnaires, food recalls, and two non-invasive fingerstick blood samples across 5 sessions; parents will complete three questionnaires on first visit.
