7. COMING TOGETHER: REFLECTION AND LEARNING IN THE MIDST OF THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The events currently unfolding in Ukraine following the Russian invasion are troubling for many. Cranwell International Center and Mozaiko Living-Learning Community, in partnership with Cook Counseling Center and the Dean of Students Office, want to offer you a space where you can engage in personal reflection regarding the war in Ukraine and where you can reach out to fellow students, as well as faculty and staff who will be present to provide support during this difficult time. We will also offer space for learning about Maslenitsa*, a Slavic holiday that demonstrates the cultural connections between Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. After brief opening remarks, this event will predominantly provide a space to be in community. Traditional food and drink from Ukraine and Russia (tea, pierogis, syrnki, and blini) will be served at this event.

31. APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR THE PREPARING EFFECTIVE PHYSIOLOGY EDUCATIONS PROGRAM – 2nd posting
The American Physiological Society (APS) is recruiting applicants for the Preparing Effective Physiology Educators (PrEP-E)program for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career professionals who are interested in enhancing their teaching skills through the development of a teaching portfolio supported by cohort and individual mentoring. Preference will be given to applicants who teach or plan on teaching at a community college. Thanks to grant funding, successful applicants will be awarded $1,800 to attend the 2022 APS Institute on Teaching and Learning in Madison, WI, June 21-24. 33. MARTIAN SUBSURFACE ANALYSIS TEAM AT VT SEEKING MEMBERS – 3rd posting
The Martian Subsurface Analysis Team (MSAT)  is a student organization located in the Advanced Engineering Design Lab at VT and is currently seeking students to participate in the NASA’s Moon to Mars prospecting challenge. NASA is asking for undergraduate/graduate teams to design and build some hardware that will extract water and assess subsurface density profiles from a simulated off-world test bed to advance critical technologies needed on the surface of the Moon and Mars. 38. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR BEHAVIORAL STUDIES ON COLLABORATIVE ONLINE CONTENT AUTHORING – 1st posting
The Echo Lab is seeking individuals to participate in a collaborative writing (e.g., academic papers, project reports) study through which we aim to investigate the communication occurring between collaborators. Participants must be 18 years and older, can fill out a survey in English, uses online services, has written collaboratively with others, and can participate in the study across multiple sessions. Depending on the role assigned to you by the researchers, your duration of participation and compensation will change. For one role, duration be up to 240 minutes total: this includes a pre-survey, writing up two essay drafts, finalizing two essays, and filling out surveys after finalizing each essay. For another role, duration will be up to 140 minutes total: this includes a pre-survey, collaborating on two essays, and filling out surveys after collaborating on each essay. Both participants will fill out a pre-study survey as well as complete surveys after each collaboration, and a pair of collaborators will have a chance of winning a bonus ($50 or $100 for each collaborator depending on the role assigned by the researcher) if the collaborated essay is selected as the winning essay. The Echolab is recruiting participants for a research study to facilitate computer users’ task resumption with an image curation application. We are investigating how the screenshot-based technology could assist computer users with reconstructing mental context and retrieving digital resources. For this study, we will install our application: Scrapbook on participants’ computers. And participants will be asked to use Scrapbook for approximately 10 minutes per day. This application allows users to take screenshots for their computer activities and retrieve resources captured in these photos. At last, there will be a follow-up interview session with each participant.
