1. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS DEEP DIVE WORKSHOP
4-day workshop, Jan 9-12, 2023; each day 10am – 3pm with a 1 hour lunch break 12-1pm, Zoom
The Evidence Synthesis Services (ESS) team at the University Libraries in collaboration with the Statistical Applications and Innovations Group (SAIG) will host the third Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Deep Dive, January 9-12, 2023. During this 4-day workshop participants will become familiar with the major required steps of this methodology, practice relevant skills, and consider the many decisions necessary for a successful synthesis. 2. VIRGINIA TECH POSTDOC ESSENTIAL SKILLS SERIES – NETWORKING AND INTERVIEWING

In this interactive workshop, graduate students and postdocs will learn more about the value of informational interviewing to grow their networks and explore career options. In addition, we will leverage a “story circle” activity to help attendees think through how to frame their experiences when answering common interview questions. 5. JANUARY HOURS FOR THE GRADUATE SCHOOL –1st posting
We will reopen on Tuesday, January 3. During the weeks before the first semester begins, the Graduate School offices will be open during our regular hours: 9 am- 4 pm. Please note we will be closed on January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, but offices will be open as usual when the semester begins on January 17.

GRAD 5024 Data Management Skills course offered for Spring 2023 Wednesdays 11:15AM to 1:15PM Improve your data management skills towards your thesis/dissertation! Learn about: the importance and benefits of data management including creating a data management plan. Data organization, policies, documentation, storage, ethics, access, security, analytical tools, grant requirements (proposal and post- award), proper attribution, archiving, other issues and topics related to data in scholarly communication. 8-week course, 1-credit. Pass/ Fail Only. Pre: Graduate Standing.

LDRS 5544 Leading Teams through Change (CRN 17100) face-to-face: Theory and techniques for leading tactical, creative, and problem-solving teams through change. 10. VP FOR FINANCE SENIOR MANAGEMENT AREA SEEKS GRADUATE ASSISTANT – 1st posting
The VP for Finance Senior Management Area seeks a full-time (20 hr./week) Graduate Assistant to support initiatives furthering the automation of administrative tasks using various technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA). This is an appointment available immediately and ending May 2023. The GA will work closely with the finance solutions team to compile business requirements, coordinate with business process owners to document changes to current business practices, assist in process re-engineering and change management planning efforts, and independently analyze business case scenarios. The successful candidate should demonstrate familiarity with basic programming constructs, knowledge of process mapping and design, experience with relational databases and query tools, and an ability to manipulate large sets of data. 11. EQUINE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM – NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – 1st posting
Are you a student, staff, or faculty member interested in being a part of the Equine Volunteer Program? No prior equine experience required! This program provides a safe environment to learn about equine handling, get your “horse fix”, hang out with the Hokie Horses, learn and practice skills such as routine handling of horses of all ages, nutritional management, health assessment, and barn upkeep, and meet others in the VT community! Volunteers are assigned to weekly feed shifts and provide daily care to horses at both the Campbell and Smithfield Equine Units, rotating every 2 weeks between the units. Five winners, as determined by a panel of community members, Virginia Tech folks, and a 7th grader, will each receive $500 in professional development funds.
