19. DOCTORAL CANDIDACY STATUS TUITION DISCOUNT PROCESS UPDATE – 2nd posting
Effective Fall 2025, the doctoral candidacy status tuition discount request will become an opt-out process. The Graduate School will automatically add the doctoral candidacy status tuition discount for any doctoral student who has passed their preliminary examination and meets all qualifications for the status, as well as remove the discount for any doctoral student not meeting all qualifications for the status. Any doctoral student qualifying who does not wish to utilize the tuition discount may submit the Candidacy Status Tuition Discount Opt-Out form no later than the last day to add course registration for the semester. Questions regarding this change in process can be directed to the Graduate School at grads@vt.edu.

25. GA POSITION IN GOVERNMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS – 3rd posting
The Fellowship is targeted at students who have an interest in state government and policy, as the Fellow works in the Office of Government and Community Relations during both the fall and spring semesters. During the fall semester, the Fellow has a regular assistantship based in Blacksburg and is expected to make occasional trips to Richmond. During the spring semester, the Fellow serves in a full-time role based in Richmond during the legislative session in order to monitor and participate in the activities of the General Assembly. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program provides funding for Ph.D. candidates in the physical sciences to conduct part of their thesis research at a U.S. DOE National Laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for accessing cutting-edge instrumentation and facilities that may enhance the research of your faculty and the training of your students. 27. RISK FACTORS FOR A SECOND ACL INJURY (ACL-CARE) – 1st posting
Join a paid research study at Virginia Tech. A single 90-minute in-person session and complete a 15-minute survey each month for 18 months to earn up to $320. Help us understand risk factors for a second ACL injury (VT IRB: 21-612). Inclusion criteria are: having undergone primary ACL reconstruction, are between 14-25 years old, and planning to return to any level of sports (recreational, intramural, high school, college, etc.). 28. VIRGINIA TECH RESEARCH CALLS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND SCHOLARS TO PARTICIPATE IN A STUDY INVESTIGATING CYBER SCAMS – 2nd posting
Virginia Tech research (IRB #25-305) is investigating scam vulnerability and the availability of scam prevention resources among international students and scholars. Participants will take part in a brief (15-minute) survey that explores vulnerabilities, access to scam prevention resources, support systems, communities, and scam victimization among international students and scholars. The project also aims to empower international students, scholars, and communities and help VT develop resources for these communities. The survey will be fielded from March 21st until the end of the spring term. Participants who complete the survey will be granted the opportunity to participate in an optional follow-up interview elaborating on the survey topics. Interested parties must:

• Be citizens of a country other than the U.S.
• Be currently associated with a college or university in the U.S.
