This spring, the minimum assistantship level was raised for graduate students and graduate students were also promised a 5% raise in the fall. However, grad comprehensive fees were raised as well. The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) has received reports from students, particularly international students, who are actually making less per month due to this increase in fees. We are trying to investigate these concerns as quickly as possible to better serve everyone. Additionally, we want to ensure that everyone received the 5% increase and are at or above the new minimum ($2420/month or step 12 on the stipend table) Please fill out this survey to help GPSS collect this critical data: https://forms.gle/GtJzsyQXm8nasWTD8.

Graduate student presence at the last BOV meeting helped get the minimum stipend level for graduate students raised to $2420/month. However, the new minimum is still not a living wage! Just like the last BoV meeting, GPSS is holding a virtual training on how to talk to BoV members about grad student issues on August 23. Additionally, The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) will be coordinating carpools up to Roanoke for the three days of meetings.
