10. WEB ACCESSIBILITY ASSISTANTSHIP FOR 2017-2018- 2nd posting
Assistive Technologies, a unit of Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies (TLOS), is seeking a Graduate Assistant for 2017-2018 to work on accessible web design and testing. The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity of learning assistive technologies, web accessibility, and gaining practical experience by working 20 hours per week in the Assistive Technologies Lab. The Web Accessibility Assistant will support several projects related to the accessibility of websites for people with disabilities including the maintenance and improvement of the accessible WordPress theme used by TLOS and others across campus. Additionally, the Web Accessibility Assistant will review department and university websites using web accessibility testing tools and procedures. Required qualifications include strong communication and design skills, fundamental web developmental experience, such as HML and CSS, experience with a content management system, experience with Windows and Mac operating systems, and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technical skills. 12. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR WEARABLE EXOSKELETON STUDY – 1st posting
Students are invited to participate in a study about a wearable exoskeleton. Participants will be asked to perform simulated assembly tasks (e.g., manual drilling and wiring), both with and without the upper-extremity exoskeleton. Two experimental sessions (~3-4 hour long) are required to complete the study. Compensation: $10/hour. 13. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR A STUDY ABOUT METABOLIC COST OF LIFTING – 2nd posting
Participants are needed for a research study about metabolic cost of lifting with and without a wearable exoskeleton. They must be 18-65 years old with no recent or prior musculoskeletal disorders and back injuries. They should be able to comfortably lift about 25% of their bodyweights from the floor to the waist height. They are asked to perform a variety of lifting tasks both with and without the exoskeleton. There are two experimental sessions for this study and the compensation rate is $10/hour. 14. PARTICPANTS NEEDED WHO ARE ENGAGED IN FINDING RESEARCH ARTICLES – 3rd posting
Sarang Joshi, PHD student in Computer Science, is seeking participants who are engaged in finding research articles through online search among their other search tasks. During this session, we will also set up a special recording software, My Screen Recorder Pro 4, on the device (laptop) you intend to use for scholarly research activities. This software would begin the recording process when you start searching on the search engine of your choice and stop when you ask it to stop. The study lasts three weeks and your search activities will be logged during this period and you will be asked about your searches and search choices, including whether you choose to use our technology, Critisearch.  Participants will receive a $25 gift card.
