You are limited to two 1.5-hr (or shorter) appointments with Prabin per semester, (although you can always make a follow-up appointment with him in the Writing Center).

8. THEATRE AUDITIONS FOR BICYCLING PLAY

“The Right of Way,” a new documentary play sourced from interviews, memorializes a young bicyclist who was struck and killed by a speeding motorist. Using video and spatial audio, this immersive production will look at the evolution of our city streets over the last century. Performances will be in the Cube at the Moss Arts Center, March 29-31. Weeknight rehearsals begin February 5th. 25. COMMUNITY CHANGE ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS – 2nd posting
Community Change, an online, peer-reviewed, graduate student-run journal at Virginia Tech that explores multiple approaches to democratic community development and change, is accepting submissions for its second issue. Soliciting scholarly articles (4,000-6,000 words), book reviews (1,000-1,500 words), multimedia, and artwork that analyze responses to the evolving political and social landscape since the 2016 election. Might include, but not limited to: 1) explorations of new initiatives, on-going activism, and community organizing and how they have changed their work since 2015 campaign and 2016 election; 2) historical movements and groundwork that has informed current responses; 3) pieces reflecting on tactics and strategies employed to resist, counter, and educate about xenophobia, white supremacy, and other ideologies or political doctrines. 26. JEAN B. DUERR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN STUDENTS – 3rd posting
The Jean B. Duerr Memorial Fund awards scholarships to women who plan to attend, or are already enrolled in, an accredited college or university for the entire 2018-2019 academic year. Awards of $2,000 will be given to those applicants who best demonstrate academic achievement and community service. SIX MONTHS AFTER CHARLOTTESVILLE: CHRISTIAN REFLECTIONS ON RACE AND POLITICS

In light of the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville six months ago, Virginia Tech political scholar Brandy Faulkner and Christian theologian Kristopher Norris will examine the role of religion in both perpetuating and resisting racism. In dialogue with each other and the audience, they will reflect on their experiences in Charlottesville on August 12 and, drawing from that event, discuss questions such as: Do black and white Christians conceptualize justice in the same way? How do African American Christians make sense of their engagement in a religion that all too often has been used to perpetuate racism?
