9. GSA GRAD RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FALL CYCLE OPENING 11/4 – 1st posting
The GRDP is a program administered by the GSA to provide monetary support for research conducted by Virginia Tech graduate students. This funding opportunity is available to graduate students in two cycles for each academic year. All full-time registered graduate students enrolled at Virginia Tech are eligible to apply. Assistance through the GRDP is competitive and is awarded based on a review process to help ensure fair decisions. The Fall Cycle application will open beginning Monday, Nov 4. 10. FISH & WILDLIFE GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOC. 2020 CALENDARS AVAILABLE – 1st posting
Students in the Fish and Wildlife Graduate Student Association (FIWGSA) in Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment are selling 2020 calendars highlighting their work around the world. Each month features a photo taken by a student and showcases research on a variety of captivating species, including bears, shorebirds, foxes, turtles, lemurs, candy darters, and more. Proceeds from the calendar sale support a guest speaker visit and fund business and social events. FIWGSA mentors new students, engages in outreach, and serves as an intermediary between graduate students and faculty. One calendar is $15; two or more are $12 each. Papers are currently being accepted for the 2020 ASPECT Graduate Conference “Contested Knowledges: Social, Political, Ethical and Cultural Perspectives.” The committee will accept paper proposals from graduate students across disciplinary boundaries in the humanities, social sciences, and related fields. 15. FEMALE PARTICIPANTS NEEDED: PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY RESEARCH STUDY – 1st posting
The current study is examining communication of emotion between two female participants while heart rate and contractility measures are being collected via electrodes. The study will take place in Williams Hall 248 and 250 and sessions take approximately an hour and 45 minutes to complete.
