37. FEMALE PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR LOW SPEED SLED TEST RESEARCH STUDY (IRB #17-1008) – 3rd posting
The VT Center for Injury Biomechanics is recruiting female subjects (18-28 yrs) to participate in a research study investigating the effects of muscle bracing on occupant motion and forces during low speed sled tests, similar to pre-crash braking events and low-speed car crashes (IRB #17-1008). Participants will be asked to come in for one pretest visit (~1 hr) and two testing visits (~5 hrs each). During each testing visit, participants will be exposed to 4 sled tests while wearing a sleeveless t-shirt, tight fitting shorts, socks and shoes, a seat belt, mouth guards, and instrumentation attached to the skin with adhesive patches (all of which will be provided). These tests are similar to bumper car impacts. Compensation rate is $20/hr. Participants should be females approximately between 4’10”-5’2″ and 98-108 lbs. Participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, be able to show valid proof of full vaccination, and be willing to wear a mask during each visit. All members of the research team are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, can provide valid proof of full vaccination, and will be masked during the duration of each visit. If interested, please email Dr. Andrew Kemper (akemper@vt.edu) to receive additional details about the study, including the full inclusion criteria, or if you have any questions.

38. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR A STUDY EXAMINING HOW CHOLINE INTAKE INFLUENCES HEALTH – 3rd posting
This study will require multiple visits to the lab, consumption of a supplement or placebo, wearing a continuous glucose monitor, and a time commitment of approximately 36 hours. Participants must be 18-79, not taking medications that influence the study results, not have severe obesity, non-smokers, not pregnant, without any major medical problems, without any known choline allergies, and fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  If you are on a diuretic or are taking medications such as aspirin, antibiotics, prebiotics, and probiotics, you are not eligible for this study. You will receive information on your blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, body composition and other health information. You may receive up to $400 to compensate you for your time. You will receive $20 for testing sessions 2 through 18. After completing all aspects of the study, you will receive $60. There is no compensation for completing the first session. If you meet the above requirements and are interested in participating in this research study, please contact the Human Integrative Physiology Laboratory at Virginia Tech by email: vthipl@gmail.com.

39. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR AN AUGMENTED REALITY USER STUDY – 3rd posting
The 3D Interaction (3DI) group is inviting you to participate in a research study with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies. Participants in the study will come to the Moss Arts Center, and will be asked to walk around indoors while wearing an AR headset. Participants will be asked for their comments about some novel interaction techniques. The entire experimental session will take about 45 minutes. The experiment will be audio recorded for researchers’ further interpretations and analysis of user behavioral patterns. Participants need to be English speakers, at least 18 years old, have normal vision (contact lenses are fine, glasses are not supported yet unfortunately). Participants’ involvements in the study will not impact their grades or academic performance in any way. For more information, please contact Feiyu Lu at feiyulu@vt.edu to schedule a session. This experiment has been approved, as required, by the Virginia Tech Institutional Review Board under protocol #21-843.
