1. VIRTUAL GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH INTENSIVE
Tuesday, June 3, 1-4pm  & Wednesday, June 4, 10am-12pm, Zoom
Are you a graduate student planning to start or continue working on your research project over the summer? If so, join the University Libraries for a virtual research intensive workshop led by VT librarians and designed with graduate students in mind. In this workshop, you’ll learn more about searching for library resources for literature reviews, using citation managers, writing conference proposals and abstracts, and AI tools that can help your research process. This interactive Zoom workshop will build in time for discussion and questions. It will be held June 3 from 1-4 pm and June 4 from 10 am-12pm. 4. FREE INDIVIDUALIZED NUTRITION COUNSELING – 1st posting (1/3)
Seeking nutrition and wellness guidance? Are you interested in learning how to make food choices that support a healthy lifestyle? Do you want assistance building skills for shopping and cooking to help you reach your wellness goals? If you have any of these concerns or others, graduate-level nutrition and dietetics students are here to help. The Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise Department at Virginia Tech provides FREE one-on-one nutrition counseling services (In-person or Zoom) to interested students, faculty, or staff and will be accepting new clients for summer 2025 starting May 15th. 6. WAGE LANDSCAPE DESIGNER FOR SUMMER/FALL – 1st posting
Reporting to and in collaboration with the Director and Project Manager, the primary role of the landscape designer is to work as a member of a project team alongside student employees to create conceptual landscape designs for communities. This position creates conceptual landscape designs of varying scales supplemented by perspectives, cross-sections, planting plans and plant palettes, and helps prepare for community workshops and presentations. Other primary responsibilities of the position include involvement in the community participation process with communities, giving presentations at community meetings, and preparing project reports. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or training and experience commensurate to this degree; Practical, applied knowledge of the design process from site inventory and analysis through conceptual design development; Ability to generate high-quality design materials and presentation graphics; Intermediate proficiency with design and other software platforms (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS, PowerPoint). 8. PARTICIPANT RECRUITMENT: “THE AUGMENTED GALLERY: ENHANCING VISITOR ENGAGEMENT WITH AR” (IRB #25-379) – 1st posting (1/3)
Researchers from the Mind Music Machine Lab (Dr. Myounghoon Jeon) at Virginia Tech are conducting a study on enhancing visitors’ experiences in art galleries using AR technology. We anticipate that the experiment will take roughly 60–90 minutes. Participation is entirely voluntary, and it is not mandatory for students to take part. Participants will be compensated at a rate of $10 per hour. Participant qualifications: Any student at Virginia Tech.

9. PARTICIPANTS CALL FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY FOR VR ACCESSIBILITY RESEARCH – 1st posting (1/3)
We are a group of VR accessibility researchers from University of Wisconsin-Madison and Virginia Tech. We are conducting research to understand the harassment experience for people with disabilities in social VR. Participants will complete an online survey to reflect on their harassment experiences in social VR. The survey will take 30-60 minutes to complete, and we offer $10 compensation after completing the survey. This study is fully remote.  Eligible participants meet the following criteria: Be at least 18 years old; Have a disability, including but not limited to visual impairments, deaf and hard of hearing, motor disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, etc.; Have used social VR applications. 10. INTERVIEW PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR STUDY ON PATIENT INTAKE AND AI IN HEALTHCARE – 1st posting (1/3)
Participation involves a one-time interview lasting approximately 30–45 minutes, conducted over Zoom at a time convenient for you. Our research focuses on patient experiences during the medical intake process—the part of a healthcare visit where patients share their health history, concerns, and background information. We’re especially interested in understanding what makes patients feel heard, respected, and accurately understood during intake, and in identifying areas where technology—such as AI-powered chat assistants—might be able to improve the experience. Whether your healthcare experiences have been positive, frustrating, or somewhere in between, your perspective would be incredibly valuable.
Interviews will be audio- and video-recorded, with your consent. Interested parties should contact Autumn Clark at autumnpc@vt.edu to coordinate a time for the interview. Participant qualifications: at least 18 years of age; residing in the United States; proficient in English. As a thank you, participants will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card (1 in 10 odds of being selected).

11. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR INTERVIEW STUDY ON LOCATION-BASED GAMES FOR SOCIAL PLAY OVER DISTANCE. – 1st posting (1/3)
We are seeking participants for an Interview study exploring how Location-Based Games (LBGs) can be designed to support social play over distance. Individuals interested in participating in this Interview study will be asked to complete a screener survey to determine their eligibility. If eligible, you will be asked to provide consent and indicate your preferred day(s) and time(s) for participating in the study. Only individuals 18 years or older and capable of providing consent are eligible to participate in the study. The Interview will be conducted online via Zoom and should take approximately 60 minutes to complete. After finishing the Interview, participants will be compensated with a $10 Amazon gift card. 12. EDUTUBE AI USER STUDY – 1st posting (1/3)
We’re conducting a study to explore how learners use and benefit from EduTube AI, a tool that recommends educational videos and generates a quiz to help you find related videos and learn algorithm topics more effectively. If you choose to participate, here’s what we’ll ask you to do:
1. Visit the EduTube AI tool link (https://edutube.cs.vt.edu/).
2. Choose a topic you’d like to learn (e.g., Dijkstra’s Algorithm) and briefly describe it along with your current knowledge level.
3. The search might take a bit to provide you with the result!
4. Provide your feedback on the video recommendations and the generated quiz.

13. PARTICIPANT RECRUITMENT FOR SPATIAL ORIENTATION TRAINING IN VIRTUAL REALITY – 2nd  posting (2/3)
The Systems Cognition Engineering Laboratory (SCEL) at Virginia Tech seeks students to participate in a Research Study (IRB #24-1054) to determine how graphical fidelity, user perspective, and spatial ability would impact VR basketball tactic training performance. You will be asked to wear an HTC VIVE VR Headset and experience the system. The main task is to remember the basketball tactic shown to you and identify the tactic in VR. The study should take no more than one hour per participant. You will receive compensation of $20/hr. in cash for your contribution, you will need to provide your name and signature in order to receive the payment. Please note that you must be 18+ years old. 14. RESEARCH STUDY ON A SEARCH AND RESCUE WEB APPLICATION – 2nd posting (2/3)
We are Virginia Tech researchers, in the SCEL (System Cognition Engineering Laboratory) Lab, looking for participants to study dynamic leadership assignment designed to aid Search and Rescue professionals in search and UAV management. The study will be conducted in Whittemore 529 on a web-based application. In this study, you will work alongside an autonomous agent in object detection and reassignment tasks employing four autonomous UAVs. The research protocol has been approved by the Virginia Tech Institutional Review Board (IRB #25-350). Qualifications: Any student at Virginia Tech.

15. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR THE MEASURE STUDY: MEASURING ENERGY ACROSS SIZES USING RECALLS – 3rd posting (3/3)
Are you interested in learning more about your body’s energy needs and helping researchers better measure food intake in participants of varying body sizes? Participants are needed for the MEASURE study (IRB #22-654) seeking to understand how a participant’s weight class can affect measurements of dietary intake. Participants will complete measurements of height, weight, body composition, energy expenditure, and food intake over a period of 5-7 weeks with a total of 5 visits to campus. To be eligible, you must be over 18, have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 kg/m2, weigh under 600 lbs., and not be following a weight control diet.
