This research study is focused on the experiences of Black Men Athletes (BMAs) who are alumni (graduated between 2015-2025) of Division-I (D1) Predominantly white Institutions (PWIs). The goal is to better understand how Black men student-athlete alumni define and experienced anti-Black racism while participating in collegiate athletics at PWIs. 31. PAID, 30-MINUTE VOLLEYBALL JUMP SPIKE STUDY – 1st posting
The Granata Biomechanics Lab is recruiting healthy, male and female volleyball players ages 14-25 for a 30-minute study on landing mechanics during volleyball-specific jump landing tasks. The tasks consist of a drop vertical jump, a unilateral reach, and a jump spike. The goal of this study is to understand current injury screening methods and how to make them more applicable to volleyball players. Eligibility: 14-25 years old, no current pain or injury, has played volleyball for at least one-year, and has played for a minimum of 1 hour per week for the past 2 months or more. During the study, you will interact with two versions of a prototype designed to help users monitor and understand multiple ongoing student group discussions in a simulated live classroom. You will complete a series of tasks using the prototypes and share your feedback on how such tools could support teaching and classroom facilitation. Our research team is recruiting participants with and without low back pain for a study involving ultrasound imaging of the thoracolumbar fascia (a soft-tissue covering over the top of your muscles) and treatment of low back pain. We are looking for individuals (with and without low back pain) between the ages of 18 and 50 with a BMI under 30, no history of spinal surgery within the past year, and cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding. Some participants may see improvement in pain relief, range of motion, and general body function if enrolled in a treatment group.
