3. JOIN GSA FOR A SALEM RED SOX BASEBALL GAME
Thursday, Jul 1, 7:00pm; meet in the GLC Lobby at 5:30
The GSA invites graduate students and their families and friends for a group trip to watch the Salem Red Sox minor league baseball team play next Thursday at Salem Memorial Ballpark in Salem, VA. Tickets are $6 per person and transportation via vans and carpool is available for $2 per person. Meet at 5:30pm in the GLC lobby; the drive to Salem is ~45 minutes. Please fill out this survey to help organizers plan for the number of tickets to hold and to reserve the van(s). 4. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR BIOMECHANICS STUDY – 2nd posting
Participants are sought for a study investigating the effects of flexion and lifting on the biomechanics and neuromuscular control of the human torso.  The study consists of five separate experimental sessions (each lasting approximately 1 hour) and participants will be compensated $10/hour.  To qualify you must be male, between the ages of 18-29, and regularly exercise at least 2-3 times per week.  For more information or to inquire about participation, please contact Nima.

5. iPHONE USERS SOUGHT FOR RESEARCH STUDY – 2nd posting
Computer science grad student is looking for iPhone users to serve as research participants for a project called ‘InstaRide’ to understand the perceptions of trust in a mobile software application that integrates collaboration and social networks. InstaRide is a ridesharing application that would leverage social networks to embed trust. Your participation will help researchers gain insight into the design of their application and user interfaces. The study will consist of two parts, including a set of scenario-based tasks using the iPhone and a short questionnaire. The whole experiment will last for about 1 hour. This study has been approved by Virginia Tech IRB (approval number 10-352). Please contact Vineeta if you are interested. You must be 18 or older to participate.

6. PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT FOR DIETARY INTAKE SURVEY – 3rd posting
Researchers in the Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise Department are conducting a study to determine the sensitivity to change of a brief dietary intake questionnaire. You may be eligible to participate if you are 21 or older and are in good health. The study involves 14 weekly visits to the VT campus, each less than 30 minutes (excluding the initial 1 hr visit).  Participants will be compensated a total of $45. 8. GRAD STUDENTS SOUGHT FOR ONLINE ASSESSMENT TOOL EVALUATION – 3rd posting
A doctoral student in the School of Education is looking for 30 graduate students to evaluate an online learning assessment system developed for his dissertation. The tool can be tried here. User name is pilot2, password is test2. The evaluation will be conducted online or in a lab, 220 War Memorial Hall. Drinks and pizza will be provided. Sunday, Jul 11, 6:30pm, meet outside the GLC doors facing downtown
Join GSA for a run on the Huckleberry Trail. All graduate students, family, and friends are invited. The run will be 1-4 miles based on your ability and water will be available at the 2 mile mark.
