            • GRADUATE SCHOOL: The GLC will be closed to the public, including all graduate students, between June 8 – August 16, due to renovations in the Squires Student Center. All GLC swipe card access will be terminated during this period. There will be no drop-in student services during this time. For assistance students may email grads@vt.edu, call 540 231-8636 or schedule Zoom advising: request one-on-one assistantship or academic advising by using our online request form to set-up a Zoom session. 
            • GRADUATE OMBUDS: contact for appointment at gradombud@vt.edu, 540-231-9573. Services will be available in the Newman Library in Room 427 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 10:00am-3:00pm. Students may schedule in-person meetings in this space.

            2. SELF-CARE STRATEGIES TO AVOID BURNOUT
            Monday, June 29, 11am-12pm, Zoom
            Hokie Wellness / Multiple / Self-care is an ongoing and multi-dimensional practice. We will examine strategies we can engage with to recognize psychological and physical symptoms of stress. We will also practice identifying actions we can take to alleviate these stressors before escalating into burnout.
            There is a pre-recorded lecture that you may view prior to attending that builds up the foundation of self-care. Please register by emailing hokiewellness@vt.edu.

            Join us in our summer location in the CID lobby ! From  June 10 – August 6, the GLC Café will be held in the CID Lobby. Studio 72 will be offering Crafternoon crafting activities such as fiber arts and painting most weeks.             Seeking nutrition guidance? Are you interested in learning how to make food choices that support a healthy lifestyle? Maybe you need help with skills for shopping and cooking to help you reach your wellness goals. If you have any of these concerns or others, graduate level nutrition and dietetics students are here to help. The Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise Department at Virginia Tech provides FREE one-on-one nutrition counseling services (In-person or Zoom) to any interested students, faculty, or staff and is now accepting new clients for the fall semester.             The GPSS Fall 2026 Graduate Research Development Program (GRDP) is now taking applications! Master’s students are eligible for up to $1000 in funding and doctoral students are eligible for up to $1500 in funding. Past and future GRDP guidelines will differ.             6. PERRY STREET PARKING PERMIT LOTTERY FOR THE 2026-27 ACADEMIC YEAR NOW OPEN – 3rd  posting
            Registration for the 2026-27 Perry Street parking permit lottery will open Monday, June 15, and close Friday, July 31. The lottery provides commuter and graduate students living off campus an opportunity to be considered for a Perry Street parking permit.             This research study is focused on the experiences of Black Men Athletes (BMAs) who are alumni of Division-I (D1) Power-5 Conference (P5) Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs). The goal is to better understand how Black men student-athlete alumni define and experienced anti-Black racism while participating in collegiate athletics at PWIs.             8. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR A STUDY ON CYBER-ATTACK DETECTION IN AUTOMATED VEHICLES – 2nd posting
            The Mind Music and Machine Lab (Industrial and Systems Engineering department) at Virginia Tech is looking for participants for a research study on cyber-attack detection in automated vehicles.
            This study examines how different types of training influence people’s ability to recognize cyber-attacks and distinguish them from non-attack events while monitoring an automated vehicle. Participants will; receive training related to cyber-attack detection, participate in a simulated automated driving session, observe vehicle interface information, • Decide if events are cyber-attacks or non-attacks, Complete brief questionnaires.

            Eligibility:

            • Have normal or corrected-to-normal vision and hearing

            9. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED: STRENGTH TRAINING COACH INTERVIEWS – 2nd posting (2/2)
            PRIME Lab at Virginia Tech is seeking participants for a user study exploring future wearable technologies for strength training (IRB #25-583). Participants will review and discuss a series of storyboard scenarios depicting future wearable systems that provide on-body feedback during exercise. The study aims to understand how trainers perceive the safety, usefulness, and coaching implications of these concepts. We are looking for certified personal trainers, fitness instructors, or individuals with prior coaching experience in strength training. Study session may be conducted either in person or remotely via Zoom and will last approximately 60 minutes.             10. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR A VIRTUAL REALITY USER STUDY- 3rd posting
            The 3DI Group is looking for participants for our research study entitled “Charactering Cognitive Load in Immersive Spaces to Think” at the Blacksburg campus. Participants in this study will have a chance to experience the state-of-the-art virtual reality and physiological sensor technology, including a Varjo Aero and the Emotibit. During this study, participants will be asked to review multiple text documents within an immersive environment and provide a verbal report, regarding the who, what, where, and why of the plot throughout. Participants will also be asked to complete questionnaires about their experience. We expect the experiment to take approx. 90 minutes (1.5 hours). You may qualify for this research if you are at least 18 years old, have normal or corrected vision (contacts are OK, glasses not supported), and have strong English skills. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you can choose to terminate your participation in the experiment at any time for any reason. If you choose to participate you will be compensated monetarily in the form of $20 USD OR in the form of volunteer credit. We will schedule participation on a first-come, first-served basis.             11. VIRGINIA TECH STORYTIME STUDY – 3rd posting
            We have a NEW Virginia Tech Storytime study (IRB #23-748)! We are looking for children ages 4 to 6 years and their parents who live in the U.S. and speak English. Participation involves either one 75-min lab visit or two Zoom sessions totaling 75 minutes (Session 1: 40 min + Session 2: 35 min).             12. AI-BASED TOOL DECISION MAKING FOR PROGRAMMING TASKS – 3rd posting
            Are you and your team using LLM-based tools to support software development work?  We are researchers at Virginia Tech conducting a study to gather insights from software professionals about their experiences and challenges in selecting AI and LLM-based technologies for software engineering tasks.             13. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR STUDY ON LEARNING (EARN AT LEAST $45) – 3rd posting
            In this interesting behavioral experiment, participants will learn how to use different spells and transform items as wizards/witches. By completing this study, you will get compensation of at least 45 dollars in total (It requires participants to sign up for two sessions, the exact duration of session will depend on individual’s progress). This is an excellent opportunity to get to know and contribute to research in the learning domains. What’s more, it could also lead to opportunity to participate in a later fMRI experiment to have your own structural brain scan and get it 3d-printed in the library.
