- GRADUATE SCHOOL: In-person advising, drop-off or pick-up of documents and materials, and a space to study and take a break! Visit SHIP (120 GLC),summer walk-in hours starting June 1st will be held on Monday and Thursday 9:00-4:00pm. The Graduate School offices will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the summer. If you prefer Zoom advising: request one-on-one assistantship or academic advising by using our online request form to set-up a Zoom session.

1. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS DEEP DIVE
Monday, June 26-Thursday, June 29, 10am-3pm,
Join us virtually on June 26 – 29, 10am – 3pm EST for the activity-based Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Deep Dive! During this 4-day workshop participants will become familiar with the major required steps of this methodology, practice relevant skills, and consider the many decisions necessary for a successful comprehensive review and synthesis. Instructors for this course include method and search experts at the Virginia Tech (VT) Libraries, a researcher who conducts qualitative systematic reviews with the Social Ecology Lab at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, and a VT statistician with experience helping researchers conduct meta-analyses in the context of educational and health-related research. 5. WAGE POSITION ASSISTANT COACH, VT COMPETITIVE CHEER CLUB TEAM – 2nd posting
The Virginia Tech Competitive Cheer Club Team is comprised of 25-30 student-athletes. We practice 2-3 nights/week at a gym in Radford, and compete each spring at NCA College Nationals in Daytona, Florida, in addition to other competitions in the region. We are strictly a competition team, we do not perform at any VT athletic events. We are seeking an Assistant Coach who has experience in cheer spotting and tumbling. A basic knowledge of cheerleading is helpful but not required. The Assistant Coach will assist our Head Coach in all aspects of leading/coaching the team. This can include composing practice plans, leading practices and/or conditioning and traveling with the team to competitions and showcases. 6. GA POSITION IN GRADUATE SCHOOL – 3rd posting
The Graduate School’s Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Strategic Partnerships (DISP) has an opening for a GA position starting in Fall 2023. Applicants must be current graduate students at the Blacksburg campus enrolled at VT through at least Spring 2024. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion topics, enthusiasm for supporting and creating community among graduate students, an ability to work both independently as well as in a team-based environment, and can comfortably engage with students, faculty, staff, and community members. In addition to supporting existing initiatives, the GA will also have the creative freedom to propose new programs that strengthen our graduate community. The GA may assist with on- and off-campus recruitment events and will assist with DISP events throughout the year, including some nights or weekends. 7. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR STUDY ON FOOD – 2nd posting
Center for Health Behaviors Research at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, located in Roanoke, is conducting a 3-14 week research study to investigate how foods we eat interact with our body’s biology to influence food reward in the brain. All sessions are in Roanoke, 4-8 sessions over ~31 hours. You will consume snack foods and undergo measurements of energy use, IV blood draws, and MRI brain scans. Compensation up to $570. 8. PAID RESEARCH STUDY – YOUNG ADULT COGNITION – 2nd posting
The MEM lab (Williams Hall) is recruiting participants for a 2-session study of young adult cognition. You are eligible if you are able to quickly read visually-presented English words and age 18 to 50. 9. PARTICIPANT RECRUITMENT FOR AUGMENTING SENSATION WHEN USING EXOSKELETON – 2nd posting
Participants will be asked to scan and carry a box between two tables, while also avoiding pedestrians approaching from behind them. You will be asked to wear a Microsoft HoloLens AR Headset as well as handle a barcode scanner and box. 10. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR A TABLET-BASED VR OBJECT MANIPULATION STUDY – 2nd posting
The Echo Lab at Virginia Tech is recruiting participants for a tablet-based virtual reality research study (IRB# 23-178). The purpose of this study is to explore different interaction methods for virtual object manipulation using hand-held tablets. Participants will be asked to move a virtual object to a target location in a 3D virtual space while holding a tablet with two hands. For enrollment, participants need to be 18+ years old and have normal or corrected-to-normal vision. The study will take 1.5-2 hours and participants will receive Amazon gift card ($10 per hour). 11. PARTICPANTS/ACTORS NEEDED FOR A SIMULATED JOB INTERVIEW RECORDING – 2nd posting
We are recruiting seniors and graduate students who are actively looking for a job to participate as an actor in our research study. We are conducting a research study investigating eye contact in remote job interviews. We need actors to produce recordings of a simulated job interview for our study. All actors will be expected to bring a job posting that they are targeting from a site like LinkedIn. You will then be asked to simulate a job interview for that company. Actors will get a $25 Amazon gift card. The study is being conducted under Dr. Sang Won Lee and EchoLab. We anticipate it will take 1.5 hours to complete the recording. Qualifications: Currently looking for a full-time position Conducted in-person or Zoom interview recently (within three months) Native in English Comfortable participating in a mock interview and recordings being used for research purposes.
