4. DIGITAL LITERACY MODULE FOCUS GROUP

6. TIE-DYE AND TACOS WITH THE GRADUATE FELLOWS — RESCHEDULED!
Wednesday, May 2, 12:00-2:00pm, Graduate School Lawn
Take an afternoon break with the Graduate Fellows to enjoy delicious tacos and create a tie-dye masterpiece. Tie-dye materials will be provided, but please bring your own shirt (or other garment). Please only bring one item to tie-dye to ensure that as many people as possible can join in on the fun. Tie-dye works best with white cloth, but lightly colored material may work okay too. 7. INFO SESSION FOR NSF URBCOMP PROGRAM
Wednesday, May 2, 5:30-6:30pm, Torgersen Hall, Room 3001
UrbComp is an NSF-funded National Research Traineeship program at VT that trains graduate students to apply data science and computational modeling methods to solve problems faced by urban populations. The program is open to VT graduate students located in Blacksburg or the National Capital Region who are pursuing an MS or PhD. 8. READING DAY YOGA AND HIKE
Thursday, May 3, 7:45am-3:00pm, Venture Out House, Roanoke St.
Venture Out is leading a trip on reading day called Reading Day Yoga and Hike for anyone to sign up and take a break right before finals begin. The trip fee is $15 and that includes transportation, yoga and a mat, hike, and morning tea. Plan to meet at the Venture Out House on Roanoke St. at 7:45 am and return around 2:00 or 3:00pm. 12. GRAD STUDENT ACTION PHOTOS SOUGHT FOR COMMENCEMENT SLIDESHOW – 2nd posting
The graduate commencement ceremony on May 10 includes “Images and Reflections,” a 5-minute slideshow segment shown on the video boards with musical accompaniment. We invite photos from graduating students that depict your lives as grad students. If you would like your photo(s) to be included in the commencement slideshow, send digital photos to grads@vt.edu by May 1. The slideshow is compiled by the Graduate Student Services Office; photo submission does not guarantee inclusion; photos may be cropped to fit video board size standards.

19. GA POSITION WITH NETWORKED LEARNING INITIATIVES – 2nd posting
Networked Learning Initiatives (NLI) is seeking a motivated graduate student for 2018-19 that can provide operations assistance for NLI programming. Duties include assisting with the NLI daily operations, including database management and support, greeting and assisting program instructors; maintaining organization of facilities as needed; assisting with NLI event logistics; and other related duties as assigned.
