3. GSA WELCOME BACK BBQ

Join members of the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) as they welcome (back) new and returning grad students to the VT campus. Smoked pulled pork, chicken, ribs, sides, dessert, iced tea and lemonade will be provided. Note that the front entrance to the University Club may be under construction. If this is the case you may enter through the side front doors or the back. There will be games and tents set up outside as well. The GLC Café is offered throughout the year with free coffee, tea, and cookies in the company of your graduate-student and Grad-School colleagues, normally in the GLC reading room. This week, however, the café is replaced by the “Make yourself at home in Blacksburg” event. Please join new and returning students in the GLC Multipurpose Room, 4:30-6:00pm. Normal café hours will resume next week.

11. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR PAYROLL DEDUCTION OF COMP FEES FOR GRAD ASSISTANTS
The registration system for paying comprehensive fees through payroll deduction now open. Graduate students on an assistantship must either pay their comprehensive fees or enroll for payroll deductions no later than Sep 6, 2013. To enroll in payroll deductions, login to Hokie SPA, choose University Account Information menu, and click on Graduate Students on Assistantship, enroll in Payroll Deduction. You must enroll in payroll deduction each semester in which you wish to take advantage of this opportunity.

Are you interested in learning a little bit about yourself? Participate in a study of emotions, cognitions, and the self. This study will include an in-person lab session, for which you may sign up using SONA or by emailing the co-investigator (neville@vt.edu).
